Active Citizens – Digital Citizens
Project Description
The Active Citizens – Digital Citizens (ACDC) project focuses on the theme of digital citizenship and aims to create a comprehensive methodology based on a holistic approach that will develop the capacity of youth workers in five countries: Bulgaria, Spain, Greece, Ireland and Portugal, in this field, and will benefit young people in their communities through local activities.
The digital citizenship methodology will address the real digital challenges and dilemmas faced by adolescents and young people today, providing youth workers trained under the project with the knowledge and skills they need to work on this issue with young people, so that they succeed as digital learners, leaders and citizens.
Objectives
- Develop the capacities of youth workers to effectively address the various aspects of digital citizenship when working with young people.
- Encourage the responsible, ethical and critical use of digital tools to strengthen democratic participation and social inclusion.
- Empower young people to take an active role in society, both in physical and digital environments.
- Promote the exchange of knowledge and good practices among European organisations for inclusive digital education.
Implementation
The implementation of the project is structured through the development and implementation of an educational toolkit based on non-formal education methods. This resource includes practical activities on fundamental topics such as identity and digital footprint, cybersecurity, media literacy, privacy, and the prevention of hate speech and cyberbullying. Implementation is carried out through workshops and training sessions led by youth workers, who use this toolkit to guide young people in acquiring the digital skills necessary for their exercise as active citizens.
Expected Results
Creation of a comprehensive toolkit with non-formal education activities for the training of youth workers and young people.
Improvement of the digital skills of participants in critical areas such as online safety, media literacy and digital identity management.
Greater preparedness of youth workers to identify and manage common digital risks, such as hate speech or cyberbullying, within their target groups.
Consolidation of a European collaboration network that promotes youth empowerment through digital training.
