GENDER EQUALITY
Gender equality in digital competences
Project Description
Digital skills have increasingly become the foundation of global competitiveness, driving employment and growth. Digital societies require digital skills if they are to guarantee full participation of individuals in social and working life. The Internet has been vital in working towards high-quality education at all levels, while the COVID-19 crisis has demonstrated that most jobs can be performed remotely using technology (source: European Institute for Gender Equality).
Objectives
- The general objective is to ensure equitable, inclusive and high-quality education and training in digital skills for women.
- Furthermore, it aims to highlight the severity of the gender gap in digital skills; promote digital skills among groups of young women with basic or low levels of digital skills;
- Increase the employment opportunities for women with basic digital skills;
- Influence the current digital ecosystem by increasing the presence of women; etc.
Implementation
The project includes the development of a good practices guide with real-life examples and recommendations to help women and girls develop and strengthen their digital skills. It also includes a practical digital skills course aimed at women with low levels of education, focusing on basic aspects of the Internet, devices and digital tools. Additionally, a practical workshop is planned to work appliedly with digital tools, targeting the same audience as the guide and the course.
Expected Results
Among the expected results are the dissemination of existing methods for digital skills development, the identification of innovative good practices and the promotion of non-formal educational tools and activities for digital learning. Overall, the project aspires to strengthen the presence of women in the digital ecosystem and improve their opportunities for social and labour market participation.
