MET-VET
Metacognition for Environmental Thinking in VET
Project Description
The MET-VET project will support the greening process and broader European environmental and sustainability goals by developing an innovative set of tools that back environmental awareness, through wider metacognitive knowledge and skills among VET students and their educators to support the role of VET centres as hugely influential educators, as Europe embarks on a digital and environmental change.
Objectives
- Contribute to the professional development of trainers in environmental protection so that they can help students develop a reflective ecological mindset.
- Support the greening process and EU environmental and sustainability goals, aligning vocational education and training (VET) with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030.
- Foster greater environmental awareness among VET students and educators through metacognitive knowledge and skills.
- Turn VET centres into advocates of the “greening process” in the face of digital and environmental change in Europe.
Implementation
The project has been implemented through a collaborative transnational approach among European partners. Activities have included the design and creation of an innovative set of pedagogical and digital tools, as well as the execution of field research on the integration of change management strategies in VET centres. The work has comprised the development of pedagogical content, the use of digital platforms for dissemination and training, and the holding of working sessions aimed at fostering green and metacognitive competences in the educational community.
Expected Results
Development of an innovative set of teaching tools (toolkit) that support environmental awareness through metacognition.
Improvement of the professional competences of VET trainers in sustainability and environmental protection issues.
Creation of a reflective and forward-looking ecological mindset among VET students.
Strengthening of the role of VET centres as active agents in Europe’s green and digital transition.
Drafting of a good practices report based on field research on change management in educational centres.
