Improving Cybersecurity readiness of the European Vocational education and training sector

Project Description

The European Union is facing a transcendent challenge represented by the COVID-19 pandemic. Many sectors are strongly affected by this crisis, and education is undoubtedly one of them. More and more users are being forced to use online classes or training courses, so the importance of recognising daily threats to our security is now more important than ever. This topic is also recognised as fundamental by the European Commission, which organises a European Cyber Security Month every year, of which the website already includes some educational material and specific awareness campaigns such as “Get cyber skill” in 2018.

Objectives

Implementation

The implementation of the project is based on the design of a cybersecurity training programme for the VET sector, which includes the identification of typical risk scenarios in virtual classrooms and learning management systems (LMS), the development of modules and practical activities (use cases, simulations, good practice guides), and the training of trainers and VET centre managers in these tools; partners work together to create educational material, workshops and awareness campaigns, which are tested in real centres and documented in a good practices guide, manuals and digital resources accessible online, aligned with the scheduling of European Cyber Security Month to reinforce the dissemination and visibility of the project in the European context.

Expected Results

Higher level of awareness and competences in cybersecurity among VET students and professionals participating in the project.

Existence of open materials and resources on cybersecurity specifically designed for the VET sector (guides, activities, presentations, videos, etc.).

Improvement of the digital resilience of VET centres against security incidents and unsafe use of platforms and data.

Strengthening of European cooperation in education and training in cybersecurity, laying the foundations for the integration of these contents in future VET programmes and digital training policies.
