DG FARMER

Digital Education on the Farm to Fork strategy

Project Description

The project addresses the need to digitalise vocational education and training (VET) in the agri-food sector, which has traditionally relied on face-to-face learning and has been affected by the pandemic. Its objective is to create innovative digital educational tools that facilitate the transition towards sustainable food systems under the European Farm to Fork strategy. In the face of the climate and health crisis, the project seeks to fill the gap in digital resources for educators and professionals in the field. By integrating technology and sustainability, DG FARMER aims to improve the resilience of the food chain and protect biodiversity. In addition to enhancing the digital skills of farmers, the initiative ensures food security and offers new economic opportunities. In short, it proposes to modernise the agri-food sector by aligning it with EU policies to address environmental and social challenges.

Objectives

Implementation

The project has been implemented through transnational collaboration among partners from seven countries (Italy, Romania, Estonia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey and Greece). Implementation has focused on the development of digital education and training materials, specifically designed to meet the training needs of the sector. The consortium has worked on creating accessible resources and training professionals, combining technical knowledge with the practical application of digital solutions to solve real problems in agricultural production and management, ensuring that the content is applicable to both VET workers and farmers.

Expected Results

Creation of a set of high-quality digital teaching resources on sustainable agricultural practices and advanced technologies.

Improvement of the digital and technical skills of professionals in the agri-food sector, driving their adaptation to new technological trends.

Acceleration of the transition towards more sustainable food systems in the European context, aligned with EU policy.

Mayor eficiencia operativa en las explotaciones agrícolas mediante la aplicación de herramientas digitales, contribuyendo a la reducción de residuos y a una gestión más inteligente de los recursos.
