NEXT MUSEUM: Stimulating digitization at small and medium-sized museums through the enhancement of the Digital Curator

Project Description

This project responds to the crisis in the Cultural and Creative Sectors, particularly small and medium-sized museums, whose physical activity was severely affected by the pandemic. In the face of a lack of resources for their digitalisation, the proposal seeks to transform these institutions through the creation and enhancement of the Digital Curator. This strategic professional figure will be equipped with high-level cross-cutting digital skills to manage archives, catalogues and online promotions. The objective is twofold: to improve the internal efficiency of museums and to attract audiences through personalised digital experiences. Since there is currently no unified training framework for this career, the project will develop a set of competences recognised across the EU. Thus, museums will be provided with specialists capable of merging cultural heritage with the most modern technological tools. In short, the project seeks to reactivate the museum system by ensuring its viability and relevance in the post-COVID era.

Objectives

Implementation

The project is based on the creation of museum spaces equipped with high-level technological infrastructure, including 360° immersive projections, videomapping systems and virtual reality experiences. Implementation requires collaboration with international multimedia production studios for the design of exhibitions that combine projections, interactive installations with sensors and personalised virtual reality experiences. The management model involves the continuous renewal of exhibitions to maintain interest and address new current topics, using technology that allows visitors to interact directly with the content.

Expected Results

Consolidation of a new interactive museum model that attracts a broad and diverse audience through immersive experiences.

Increase in the level of digital literacy and critical understanding of visitors regarding the impact of technology on human life.

Success in disseminating high-impact artistic and educational content, attracting thousands of visitors to each international venue.

Creation of a space for reflection where technology, art and ethics meet, promoting a more conscious vision of future challenges.
