YOUTH-ful-GUIDES: Empowering the Next Generation of Tourist Guides
Project Description
The project aims to combine local heritage with digital tools to drive innovation in tourism, placing young people at the centre. Its goal is to empower them through training and opportunities so they can lead heritage preservation and promote sustainable tourism. To this end, teams of young guides will be created to develop initiatives such as brand identity, a website, and an app to design tourist routes with a conservation focus. In this way, a new generation committed to protecting and enhancing local resources will be trained.
Objectives
- This project aims to equip young people by offering them tools and training opportunities to become qualified tourist guides, with an emphasis on conserving local heritage and environmentally responsible tourism.
- The objectives include providing young people with digital and guiding skills, enabling their active contribution to the community’s sustainable development.
- Through a specially designed app, young guides will create, manage, and promote eco-friendly tours, enhancing local and international tourism experiences.
Implementation
- We will create teams of young guides and train them in cultural heritage and sustainable tourism.
- A dedicated app will be developed so guides can create and share eco-friendly routes.
- The activity involves collaborative learning, hands-on training, and strengthening digital skills.
- Guided tours in the partner countries will provide practical experience, and dissemination activities will widely share the project’s impact.
Expected Results
We expect to train 45 young people as qualified guides, improving their knowledge of cultural heritage and ecotourism.
The app will serve as a dynamic platform for interactive learning and community engagement.
Local institutions and communities will be more interconnected, fostering a shared appreciation of cultural and natural assets.
Cross-border collaborations through the visits will foster a multicultural learning environment, driving innovation and shared learning in sustainable tourism.
