SET4Inclusion
Self-Evaluation Tools for e-Inclusion in HEI
Project Description
The common motivation for the project among all involved HEI (Higher Education Institutions) partners is to respond to the challenges revealed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting accelerated digitalisation of teaching and learning processes in higher education, which has placed some students, particularly those in disadvantaged situations, at a disadvantage when trying to participate in digital education. After realising that many students face difficulties in following educational content and completing their tasks online (at least between 10% and 16% of students according to HEI partner estimates), the HEI partners want to take action. At the same time, the HEI partners believe that addressing this issue is actually a partial answer to a question from years ago: why do several students underperform, why is published content so poorly understood, and why do so many students fail to complete their studies?
Objectives
- Improve inclusive digital capacities in the higher education sector.
- Ensure equal opportunities and equitable access to digital education for all students.
- Develop a theoretical framework and a self-assessment tool that integrates dimensions such as leadership, pedagogy, infrastructure and assessment.
- Foster accessible and engaging learning environments through Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
Implementation
The implementation of the project is based on the creation of the SET4Inclusion digital education reference framework, designed to systematically assess inclusive policies and practices in different educational contexts. Based on this framework, a European Call for Good Practices will be launched with the aim of identifying and collecting innovative approaches developed by various institutions. The proposals received will be subject to rigorous evaluation by the project partners, ensuring their alignment with inclusion, quality and impact objectives. Finally, the dissemination of selected practices will be promoted, including inclusive platforms, solutions based on Augmented Reality (XR) technologies and resources aimed at improving digital accessibility, thereby facilitating their transfer and adoption in other educational contexts.
Expected Results
Identification and systematisation of good practices in inclusive digital education across Europe.
Creation of a reference repository (good practices table) for other institutions to consult and replicate successful strategies.
Strengthening of the capacity of higher education institutions to implement accessible digital strategies.
Improvement in the accessibility of digital infrastructure for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
