Development of environmentally-friendly (green) training for specialists in the construction sector
Project Description
This project responds to the critical challenge of climate change by transforming the construction industry, which is responsible for 40% of global carbon emissions. Our approach covers the entire building lifecycle, from the ethical extraction of materials to efficient waste management, with the aim of drastically reducing the sector’s environmental footprint. We promote the transition to eco-friendly housing through the integration of technological innovations such as renewable energies, ultra-efficient insulation systems and advanced water conservation solutions. By combining sustainability and technology, we not only protect our natural environment but also drive a conscious and future-ready economic model.
Objectives
- Develop a comprehensive training programme in green and sustainable techniques aimed at construction sector specialists, in order to improve their competencies in energy efficiency, waste management and eco-construction.
- Contribute to the ecological transition of the construction sector by disseminating good practices in low-impact materials, resource saving and pollution prevention.
- Promote the adoption of green training standards in VET centres and vocational training programmes, aligned with European sustainability and circular economy requirements.
- Create open training materials and methodologies that enable other centres and companies to replicate environmental training courses for the construction sector.
Implementation
Project implementation is based on the design and piloting of a green training course for construction professionals, which combines theoretical modules on sustainability, energy efficiency and responsible resource use with practical on-site activities and workshops on eco-construction applications, in which real intervention scenarios are developed; partners (VET centres, sector companies and training entities) train a group of specialists and teachers in these contents, who then apply and adapt the model in their own educational-professional environment, while multimedia materials, didactic guides and open resources are developed and hosted on a common digital platform that facilitates the replication of the course in other European countries.
Expected Results
Higher level of green competencies in construction specialists participating in the course, with the ability to apply sustainability criteria to works and processes.
Existence of a structured and certifiable course on green training for the construction sector, accessible to trainers and companies.
Dissemination of open training materials and methodologies (guides, videos, case studies, exercises) that can be integrated into VET curricula and continuous training programmes.
Strengthening of transnational cooperation between educational centres and sector companies, for the introduction of environmental training standards in vocational training.
