Innovative Training – Augmented Reality for Green Food
Project Description
In its EU Biodiversity Strategy to 2020, the Commission identified a set of actions for the preservation of biodiversity. Among them, Action 9, “Better orient rural development to biodiversity needs and develop tools to help farmers and foresters work together towards biodiversity conservation,” highlights the need to develop rural strategies and programmes adapted to regional and local levels. Action 10, from the same strategy, aims to “conserve and support genetic diversity in European agriculture,” emphasising the significant importance of developing specific agri-environmental measures to support genetic diversity in agriculture, as well as a strategy for the conservation of genetic diversity.
Objectives
- The project aims to test innovative veterinary curricula that provide veterinarians in the field of organic food production with comprehensive competences (knowledge and skills), as well as an innovative technological tool to improve biodiversity conservation and performance in the agricultural sector.
- The general objective is to increase the level of competences in the field of organic food production and contribute to the improvement of biodiversity through a technological framework for joint action.
Implementation
The project is based on the design and implementation of a specialised training programme that integrates Augmented Reality (AR) technologies applied to the organic food sector. Implementation includes the creation of interactive digital resources, the carrying out of pilot activities with vocational education and training (VET) students, and coordination among partner organisations to ensure that the training is technical, applicable and aligned with the current demands of the sustainable agri-food sector.
Expected Results
Development of a set of innovative teaching tools based on augmented reality for teaching in the field of organic food.
Improvement of the digital and technical skills of VET students, facilitating their integration into a highly specialised labour market.
Strengthening of pedagogical innovation in associated training institutions through the use of immersive technologies.
Creation of a knowledge exchange network and good practices among European organisations linked to the agri-food and technology sectors.
