Made In EU/Safe Production in Children’s Wear

Project Description

The children’s clothing sector is a labour-intensive sector, and its contribution to employment is greater than that of other sectors. The general purpose of the project: “Safe production of children’s clothing for export” is for the target groups to be children’s clothing manufacturers, suppliers, employees in the children’s clothing sector and consumers; to provide an innovative and competitive structure for SMEs operating in the children’s clothing sector in European Union countries and to contribute to export skills through vocational education, training and strategic alliances.

Objectives

Implementation

Project implementation is based on the design of a three-module training course focused on: global market requirements for the export of children’s clothing, safe production processes and a guide to the safe use of children’s clothing by consumers; this course is developed in collaboration with chambers of commerce and textile sector entities, tested with real professionals and integrated into an online training platform accessible to European manufacturers, where didactic materials, relevant regulations, good practices and application exercises are hosted, complemented by dissemination activities and participation of companies from different EU countries that use the platform to reinforce the quality and safety of their products.

Expected Results

Professionals in the children's textile sector with greater capacity to comply with European safety, chemical and labelling regulations, reducing legal and market risks.

Improvement in the perceived quality and safety of children's clothing manufactured in the EU, resulting from better risk management in design, raw materials and quality control.

Existence of a structured and certifiable course on the safe production of children's clothing and an online training platform accessible to SMEs and other actors in the value chain.

Wide dissemination of good practices and resources on children's clothing safety, contributing to a paradigm of responsible and sustainable production in the sector.
