Not left behind children
Not left behind children- an action plan for parental education of migrant parents
Project Description
No Child Left Behind is a project initiated by the Noi Re-Cream Association based in Timisoara, Romania and carried out in partnership with organisations from five different European countries: Promipresa (Italy), Synthesis (Cyprus), KMOP (Greece), Inercia Digital (Spain) and Previform (Portugal). The project aims to refine communication within transnational families, through the education of migrant parents and parent educators and by offering tools to facilitate continuous and substantial communication with the children left at home. The project responds to the critical situation of children left behind by parents who migrate for work, feeling abandoned and unsupported in their most important developmental years, when emotional security plays a very important role.
Objectives
-
To improve communication in transnational families with migrant parents and children left behind, strengthening family bonds at a distance.
- To train parent educators to work with migrant parents, developing specific competences to support long-distance family interaction.
-
To develop innovative digital tools that facilitate affective contact and daily interaction between absent parents and their children.
-
To respond to the critical situation of children who feel emotionally abandoned during the key years of their affective development.
Implementation
The No Child Left Behind project is implemented through the creation of a training course for parent educators, an online platform with family resources, and the Keep in Touch app, which gamifies communication between migrant parents and children through shared calendars and interactive activities. The European consortium (Romania, Italy, Cyprus, Greece, Spain) develops complementary solutions that identify specific family needs and offer tailored responses, directly impacting family integrity and the emotional development of children affected by parental labour migration.
Expected Results
A training course for 96 parent educators featuring innovative methodologies to support transnational migrant families.
An online platform with information, activities, and resources for migrant parents and their children, accessible in multiple languages.
"Keep in Touch" gamified mobile application that connects parents and children through shared calendars and interactive activities.
Improvement of family quality of life and the healthy emotional development of children with migrant parents in several European countries.
