Sustainable Hospitality Digitalisation Toolkit
Sustainable Hospitality Digitalisation Toolkit
Project Description
The project will meet the needs of each participant by enhancing their market presence, applying their own expertise, combining skills, and rolling out the project’s outcomes to meet demand across all partner countries and other EU nations. All the educational organisations involved aim to enrich their own educational resources with new, modern and up-to-date materials. The subject matter in question is currently represented in various resources in a fragmented manner and not yet in its entirety. However, the need to update resources is pressing, particularly regarding the topic of sustainability integrated with technical solutions – digitalisation. This is a unique opportunity to pool the organisations’ expertise and capabilities for resource development and to create new, additional capacities for the development of open access for users across the EU, aimed directly at VET educators and VET students, addressing the needs of the labour market to improve the skills of current and future staff. What is difficult for individual educational organisations to fund and develop can be developed to a high standard through joint efforts and shared as open access.
Objectives
- To develop innovative open educational resources to improve digital skills in the hospitality sector, with a focus on sustainability.
- To provide practical guides explaining how to implement sustainable digitalisation in hotels and tourist accommodation.
- To compile international best practices and success stories of digitalisation in the hospitality sector that contribute to environmental and operational sustainability.
- To provide industry professionals with tools to measure and optimise sustainable digitalisation, thereby reducing environmental impact.
Implementation
The Sustainable Hospitality Digitalisation Toolkit project is being implemented through the development of open educational resources such as the Guide to Sustainable Digitalisation in the Hospitality Sector, which includes international best practices, case studies and market solutions for integrating technology into hotel operations in an environmentally friendly way. It focuses on training industry professionals to reduce environmental impact through digital tools such as AI-powered energy management, QR menus and online booking systems, promoting operational efficiency and transparency in sustainability. The associated platform facilitates access to these resources, promoting their adoption in European educational and business settings.
Expected Results
Creation of a Guide to Sustainable Digitalisation in the Hospitality Industry, featuring audio content, case studies and market offerings.
Resources available to educators, businesses and enthusiasts to promote green digital transformation in the tourism sector.
Improving digital skills to make the hospitality sector more efficient, reducing paper, energy consumption and waste through tools such as online check-in and digital menus.
A Sustainable Hospitality platform and toolkit to serve as a European benchmark for green digitalisation in the hospitality sector.
