Project Description
Cultural heritage has a clear significance that calls for joint action at European level. An integrated and participatory approach to cultural heritage lies at the heart of the European Framework for Action on Cultural Heritage. This is crucial for promoting cultural heritage through EU policies (https://culture.ec.europa.eu/cultural-heritage). The project aims to digitise, preserve and share manuscripts with their local communities, their wider surroundings and future generations in Jerusalem.
Objectives
- Cultural heritage is of such clear significance that it requires joint action at European level.
- An integrated and participatory approach to cultural heritage, which lies at the heart of the European Framework for Action on Cultural Heritage.
- This is crucial for promoting cultural heritage through EU policies (https://culture.ec.europa.eu/cultural-heritage).
- The project aims to digitise, preserve and make available manuscripts to the local community, the wider public and future generations in Jerusalem.
Implementation
- In order to achieve the objectives set out in the project proposal, both in-person and virtual project meetings will be held.
- Learning, teaching and training activities will take place both online and in person, using informal and non-formal intercultural educational approaches. Workshops and work packs will be implemented.
- Outreach activities such as international exhibitions and symposia will be organised to disseminate the results to a wider audience.
Expected Results
The aim of the project is to compile and digitise the manuscripts into an e-book, thereby creating a web-based digital library that includes the e-books containing these manuscripts.
A documentary will be produced covering the entire project process and all the work involved.
Finally, mobile apps will be developed that incorporate e-books, the digital library and manuscripts.
The project’s findings will be disseminated through exhibitions organised by partner organisations across the country, as well as an international symposium.
