VITAL: A Modular VR & AR Based Educational Toolkit To Help EU Adults Foster Climate Neutral Practices
Project Description
The VITAL project is driven by the European Green Deal action plan and takes into account two Erasmus+ priorities: the fight against climate change and digital transformation, in this case in adult education. Various studies, statistics and surveys show that the rate of extraction of natural resources has increased rapidly and that the finite resources we have on our planet, home to humanity, may be exhausted. In short, we must change the behaviour and lifestyle of EU citizens when it comes to the consumption and use of products and services so that we all include actions in our daily lives that are more sustainable and comply with good practices to achieve carbon neutrality.
Objectives
- Use an activity-based learning methodology to encourage critical thinking and help adults understand what the European Green Deal is about in simpler terms and with examples.
- Help adult instructors create relevant activities that can be based on the areas of the European Green Deal (farm to fork, sustainable industry, construction and renovation, ending pollution and single-use products, etc.).
- Foster a basic understanding of the main scientific principles and other phenomena, for example, the greenhouse effect, carbon footprint, heat loss, etc., through practical cases using AR/VR.
- Use AR and VR to develop training material that helps adults better understand and adopt resource-efficient practices both at home and in the workplace (working on digital transformation and increasing digital literacy skills and digital content creation at the same time).
- Encourage work-based learning and digital tools to put the knowledge acquired into practice directly.
Implementation
The project is deployed through a centralised digital platform that acts as an integrating axis for educational, professional and social guidance resources. Implementation is carried out in phases ranging from the diagnosis of user needs and the creation of a collaborative working environment among counsellors, families and students, to the validation of accessible digital tools that facilitate the design of life projects at any stage of life. This process ensures that monitoring is continuous, reviewable and adaptable to changes and transitions in the user’s educational, training and labour fields.
Expected Results
Creation and consolidation of a comprehensive web tool that centralises vocational, educational and social guidance.
Increase in the capacity of teachers and families to guide students in building their life and professional project in a systematic and accessible way.
Improvement of employability, entrepreneurship and resilience of users through personalised support.
Establishment of an inclusive guidance model that guarantees equal opportunities and non-discrimination in the transition between different life stages.
