WEb Accessibility through VEt
Project Description
The project seeks to equip Vocational Education and Training providers with specialized resources in accessible web design, promoting the digital inclusion of people with any type of disability. Furthermore, it aims to enhance the professional competencies and employment prospects of web developers, preparing stakeholders for the proper implementation of the European Accessibility Act (EAA).
Objectives
- Equip post-secondary VET providers with resources on accessible web design.
- Increase and promote disability inclusion on the Web.
- Enhance the professional competencies and employment prospects of web developers.
- Increase stakeholder readiness for the implementation of the Accessibility Act (EAA).
Implementation
The implementation is structured around the creation of practical educational materials, highlighting the development of a “VET Toolkit” on web accessibility. Training activities are conducted for trainers, accessible design workshops, and the preparation of a “Best Practice Report” that serves as a technical reference for the sector. The consortium organizes monitoring meetings and collaborative work sessions to ensure that accessibility standards are effectively integrated into the training curricula of partner centers.
Expected Results
Publication and dissemination of a comprehensive VET Toolkit on accessible web design.
Increase in the level of knowledge and competencies on digital accessibility among educators and web developers.
Greater compliance with European accessibility regulations in digital environments developed by VET centers.
Improved employability of students by acquiring high-demand technical and social skills.
Creation of a best practice framework that facilitates the real digital inclusion of people with disabilities in society.
