Project Description
The increasingly widespread digital transformation, disrupted by the Covid-19 health emergency, has plunged contemporary societies into a climate of constant change, which consequently calls for new forms of learning based on problem-solving skills. This, in turn, fosters entrepreneurial spirit, critical thinking and creativity among young people – skills that are essential for living and working in 21st-century society.
Objectives
- to become a place for thought, study and innovation, and a significant setting for the creation and dissemination of practices, culture, lifestyles and languages;
- to foster cooperation between those who produce objects and those who produce knowledge;
- involve trainers in the development of curricula;
- to improve through training with teachers and for teachers, and educational programmes for students that combine practical experience with formal learning;
- to promote skills-based training.
Implementation
The HIATUS project is being implemented by developing an innovative design thinking methodology tailored to technical colleges, where students and teachers work on real-world product development projects that combine technical and design skills. A technological tool will be created to facilitate this approach, promoting critical thinking and a focus on the labour market within the classroom. Collaboration between European educational institutions will enable the exchange of experiences and the consolidation of a network for pedagogical innovation focused on the transition from education to technical and industrial employment.
Expected Results
A specialised technology tool for implementing design thinking in technical classrooms, with a focus on product creation.
Training teachers in innovative methodologies that link technical training to the needs of the labour market.
Real-world student projects that produce prototypes and solutions with commercial or social potential.
A collaborative European network of technical centres that shares resources, best practices and methodologies for educational innovation.
