R.E.M.I.D.A. – REnewed Models for the Inclusion of Disadvantaged Adults

Project Description

The REMIDA project aims to combat the problem of the exclusion of disadvantaged adults over 40 years old, through actions implemented by Member States. Adult unemployment risks becoming stagnant; it also generally concerns low-skilled workers, or those with obsolete skills, immigrants or ex-prisoners. Therefore, support actions for the social inclusion of adults over 45 at risk are fundamental.

It was created with the objective of supporting social work on the inclusion of adults over 45 at risk of exclusion (low qualifications and skills, obsolete skills, immigrants, etc.) by defining and testing an innovative intervention model, focused on achieving personal empowerment and enhancing the formal and informal competencies of this target group.

Objectives

Implementation

Project implementation is based on the definition of an innovative intervention model (inspired by guidance and self-knowledge approaches, including the LSP model or similar) that is designed and aligned with the target group of disadvantaged adults through the creation of survey tools, data analysis and adaptation to adult education contexts, guidance courses and skills assessment; this model is tested in several European partners through individualised support pathways, where informal and non-formal competencies are identified, people are guided towards suitable training and/or career paths and their personal empowerment is reinforced, while the process is documented and a formal pedagogical framework is built that can be used in other educational and social inclusion contexts.

Expected Results

A validated intervention model for the inclusion of disadvantaged adults, which improves participants' perception of their capacity and control over their own lives (personal empowerment).

Greater capacity of services and centres to identify and value informal and non-formal competencies, facilitating transitions towards training or employment adapted to each person's profile.

Availability of a pedagogical framework and methodological guide on guidance and competency assessment for vulnerable adults, usable in social and labour inclusion programmes.

Strengthening of transnational cooperation between organisations working with disadvantaged adults, to disseminate and replicate the model in different European countries.
